So, one of the guys who frequents the office gym had the bright idea for “the gang” to do a benchmarking session once a month as a way of tracking progress, and maybe inject a little friendly competition into our respective routines.
My reply was along the lines of, “Sounds good. Who’s gonna come in second?“
Who, me, cocky?
| 4/7/09 | Chinups | Situps | Pushups | Squats | Bodyweight | Total Reps | Total Volume |
| Rafe | 25 | 84 | 65 | 54 | 168.5 | 228 | 38,418 |
| EZ E | 19 | 49 | 40 | 40 | 162.0 | 148 | 23,976 |
| Pablo | 6 | 52 | 45 | 47 | 196.5 | 150 | 29,475 |
| Mr. W | 8 | 56 | 51 | 39 | 189.0 | 154 | 29,106 |
| CTG | 8 | 40 | 18 | 33 | 174.0 | 99 | 17,226 |
The push-ups and pull-ups were done as single max-rep sets; the sit-ups were done as a two minute session on the incline bench (feet anchored, minimum incline), and the squats were done as a one minute session (I lobbied for two, but was outvoted).
We’re going to make this a monthly thing (first Tuesday of each month can be “Phat Tuesday” or something equally poorly-named), so that everyone can judge their progress; today was a combination of benchmarking and ass-kicking.
Hey, at least folks have something to shoot for. I just refuse to let ‘em catch up.

Well done chap. A rather good throttling. Crushed em on the sit ups.
Sonya pulled me aside before we started to make sure to lay a beatdown on Easy E so he’d talk less smack during the day. *chuckle*
