Pushing

So, with most of this week crossed off the calendar, it’s been tricky but not impossible to manage the 25 pushups on the hour, every hour. Next week will be 30, and so on.

Some observations…

  • Using the Perfect Pushup is harder than doing them the traditional way. This is not merely due to the increased ROM, but because the interior rotation of the humerus recruits and activates more of the pectoral muscle.
  • Wide-stance ones are a lot easier for me than hands-together ones. Again, this is a matter not merely of greater ROM, but the fact that my pecs are a lot stronger than my triceps.
  • Stabbing yourself in the groin with your work ID sucks.
  • Covenant’s “Like Tears in Rain” is the perfect tempo for me to bang them out.
