Two By Two


Nothing whatsoever to do with Noah’s Ark. Continuing the exploration of the edges of my personal envelope in the form of 2 rep maxes. Today was Overhead Press and Squats.

Overall results were somewhat mixed, but held some surprises.

Overhead Press

Warmup: 1×15 @ 45 / 1×5 @ 95 / 1×5 @ 115

Work Sets: 1×2 @ 125 / 1×2 @ 130 / 1×2 @ 135 / 1×2 @ 140 / 1×1 @ 145 / 1×0 @ 150

Not my best showing; PRs are 5 @ 145 and 3 @ 150. Possible that I was still a little fatigued from Thursday, or that I was lacking oomph due to liquid breakfast.

Squats

Warmup: 1×12 @ 45 / 1×8 @ 95 / 1×5 @135 / 1×3 @ 185

Work Sets: 1×2 @ 225 / 1×2 @ 235 / 1×2 @ 245/ 1×2 @ 255/ 1×2 @ 265/ 1×2 @ 275/ 1×2 @ 285/ 1×2 @ 295 / 1×2 @ 305 / 1×1 @ 315 (PR)

I employed the box to ensure I was getting adequate depth, but not coming to rest on it. This represents a 50# PR; my previous high was 5 @ 265. I will most definitely take it.
